DESIGN STUDIO II

PROJECT 3 - ARCHITECT'S ATELIER

This tiny house is design for 2 persons which is also used to serve as a working space to avoid the disturbance from social media for the clients.

DESIGN CONCEPT

To achieve the idea of wall less house, this house is using the pivot windows and louvres to increase the flexibility and  useable space of the spaces. The colour used for all surface inside and outside is predominantly white with the colour furniture to make the contrast. The building elements and structures material mainly used timber and bamboo.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

First stage of my idea is to used bubble diagram to develop the space planning. The connectivity according to immediately adjacency, close proximity and nearby base on the function and privacy. In addition the wind direction and solar orientation also as a main consideration factor for space planning.

Second stage, after I had confirmed the spaces, I started to put in the actual size for spaces base on the minimum requirements sizes, headroom for each space and to ensure the circulation of the spaces by insert the furniture design to make sure the spaces are workable.

FLOOR PLAN DESIGN

Ground floor spaces enclosed with the pivot window which can allow more natural light and ventilation into the house along the day. The space in the middle is the private zone which is the toilet and spa open to the air facing to the south tea leaves garden views. Beside the spa is the study and laundry area that below the staircase for the mezzanine floor. The back of the house is the kitchen and dining area. The reason why I want to separate this 2 area is to achieve a more comfortable effect for the dining area and ensure the quality of the spaces.

On the mezzanine floor is the bedroom and working space, the reason behind was to create a quiet and semi privacy area to ensure the quality of the spaces. For this 2 area I had apply the sliding door to separate the area. The toilet inside the bedroom was completed with metal framing ribbed glass.

WHY CURVED SHAPE HOUSE?

-The idea of curvy shape façade is developed from the setback line with chamfer all the angle with curve shape to make the spaces look largest and no obstacle blocking the views to achieve the wall less effect

-Secondly, the curved shape house can withstand extreme weather and the curved roof it improves the wind resistant with less susceptible to high velocity gusts lifting up the roof and tilting up the house. So, the perforated façade design enhancing the air circulation inside the spaces during days or nights.

-Thirdly, on an aesthetically curved and circles are a central and characterise feature of the natural world and circular buildings are incredibly fitting in a forest environment.
